Hitting a Home Run in Queer Design

The Calgary Apollo Softball Association (CASA) is Calgary’s only LGBTQ2S+ softball league—a vibrant, inclusive community that brings people together through sport, friendship, and fun. As the league grew, so did the number of events, deadlines, and moving parts—making it increasingly difficult to communicate everything clearly and consistently to players and the public.

That’s where studio VOX stepped in to help bring order, excitement, and clarity to CASA’s online presence.

PROBLEM

CASA’s original website was built on an outdated WordPress framework that had become fragile and difficult to update—any small changes risked breaking the entire site. On top of that, there were no brand guidelines in place, and their social media presence lacked cohesion in tone, visuals, and formatting. The team was operating on a tight budget and even tighter timeline as they headed into a busy season.

SOLUTION

VOX reimagined CASA’s digital presence with accessible tools, fresh design, and an organized strategy. We built a new website on approachable software, empowering board members to post updates, share event details, and manage league communications with confidence—no coding required.

On social media, we introduced a clean and consistent visual motif, streamlined the Instagram Highlights bar, and implemented multi-use links to centralize all important resources. We also delivered a bold and cheerful rebrand that captured the spirit of CASA: welcoming, fun, and community-focused.

Through a mix of content strategy, branded templates, and hands-on social media management, VOX helped the league better connect with its players and celebrate its place in Calgary’s LGBTQ2S+ community.
